Ascent PX Curing Light

The Ascent PX comes to you from the originator of the LED curing light. Designed to cure quickly, completely, and has four modes including a high powered five second cure. The dual spectral output of 377-490nm cures any curable dental material available today. The long life lithium battery provides up to three days of use before charging. A fully-charged battery provides cordless operation with over 350 5-second cures or 200 10-second cures. The included charging station can charge up to three 3 lights simultaneously. Reduce your risk of repetitive use injuries with the Ascent PX’s 360° rotation and cure efficiently at the correct angle every time. The low profile design makes access comfortable for both practitioners and patients.

  • Rotating Head
  • Broadband Spectrum to Cure All Materials
  • Fast 5 Sec Curing
  • Different Curing Modes for a Variety of Applications
  • Long Lasting Battery
  • Cradle with Built-In Radiometer that Charges up to 3 Lights Simultaneously

Easy Access

Easy access for Ascent PX Curing Light

The lens design prevents the need for a light guide, allowing direct access to all areas of the mouth. The buccal corridor is easily accessible with the Ascent PX 360° rotating head. The unique LEDs are engineered to focus the light into a footprint that approximates the natural shape of teeth, requiring fewer cures than traditional lights. It also cures well in a Class II box as well as at the surface. The curing light footprint dimensions of the Ascent® PX are approximately 9 - 11mm making it ideal for use in placing orthodontic brackets, setting light cured cements from the bracket margins around all sides of the bracket. The revolutionary ergonomic design enables the Ascent PX to easily reach all sites delivering a complete cure directly without sacrificing patient or practitioner comfort.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the differences between the Ascent PX and the Ascent OL5?

Both the Ascent PX and the Ascent OL5 are exceptional curing lights. The Ascent OL5 light intensity is >800mW/cm2 and the Ascent PX has up to >2000mW/cm2. The Ascent PX is also cordless and has a 360° rotating head. Both are excellent curing lights and effectively cure all photoinitiators.

What would I use the Boost mode for?

Average light intensity for the Ascent PX is 1500 mW/cm2. Boost mode supports a higher intensity of 2000 mW/cm2 allowing for a fast 5 second cure. It is a fast way to cure brackets, sealants, manage an uncooperative or wiggly child quickly, and etc.

What comes in the box?

Ascent® PX LED Curing Light (001-00049) Contains:
1 curing light
1 wand (001-00052)
1-3 position charging base (001-00051)
1 power cord
50 disposable barrier sleeves
1 protection shield (001-00060)

Replacement 250pk barrier sleeves are sold separately (001-00058)

Can the Ascent PX be purchased without the charging base?

Yes, The Ascent PX charging base that is included in the complete kit is capable of charging up to three units at a time. The light only kit is available exclusively through Henry Schein. Ascent PX LED Curing Light Only (001-00050)

How can I address shrinkage when using the Boost mode?

There are a number of ways to minimize the stress of shrinkage: One is to place and cure materials in layers. Another option is to reduce the surface area cured at a time by placing materials in a wedge and allow materials to rest by granting a few seconds of time to pass between cures.

What cleaning agents are compatible with the Ascent PX?

The Ascent PX curing light is sealed so it can be surface cleaned and disinfected using an appropriate disinfectant towelette or a cloth soaked in surface disinfectant. Below is a partial list of suggested surface disinfectants:

• Glutaraldehyde
• Chlorhexidine gluconate
• 70% Isopropyl alcohol
• Water-based phenolics
• Dual or synergized quaternary ammoniums

DO NOT use harsh abrasives. DO NOT autoclave or otherwise sterilize these components. The ambershield provided may be immersed in the solution but DO NOT autoclave or otherwise sterilize.

What is the Ascent PX’s depth of cure?

Depth of cure is dependent on a number of factors that are less dependent on the light used and more on the materials. Darker color resins require more curing time. Curing thin layers of restorative material or bonding agents requires less time. Microfills require more curing time than microhybrids, nanohybrids, or nanofills. Curing through ceramic adds more required curing time. The distance the light is placed from the material being cured, the longer the curing takes. Refer to the insert included with the cure materials for recommended curing times for best results.

Where do I buy the Ascent PX?
